一直以来,我们所受的教育都是:宽以待人,严以律己。记得小时候,亲戚家的小孩儿来家里玩,一起吃小熊饼干,结果把那一大袋饼干全吃完了。母亲等亲戚走后,让我跪在客厅的地板上,抽我的嘴巴。我大声哭泣、申辩:“她也吃了嘛!她吃得比我多!”母亲本来已经消气了,一听我这话又暴怒起来,劈头给了一巴掌:“人家是人家,你吃没吃?”

那时候我就明白了:犯了错,就要勇于承认,即使别人犯了和你同样的错,你也不应该去追究别人。

我曾经因为考试成绩没有达到自己设定的名次,而惩罚自己绕着学校操场跑20圈;曾经因为把一位朋友的秘密不小心泄露了出去,而躲在房间里狠狠扇自己的耳光:曾经因为在街上吐了一口痰被同事看见,就再也不敢面对那位同事,甚至想过要辞职……

一直以来,我都不是一个很快乐和放松的人。几乎在每做一件事之前,我都会很紧张,甚至是焦虑。我不允许自己犯错,不允许自己得过且过,我要求自己全力以赴,力求完美。因为我知道,一旦我做的事情出了差错,我自己就不会原谅自己,我会在心里反复自责:如果我再用心一点,谨慎一点,这个差错一定可以避免。即使过了很长时间,那个“结”也会纠缠在心里。

直到有一次,我向一位教授约稿,他说了一番话,才让我的心态有了改变。当时那位教授没时间亲自写稿,就把这差事交给了他的研究生。我在给研究生讲解写稿要求的过程中,说错了一个字,将“梦魇”的“魇”(yǎn),读成了“yàn”。我觉得自己太丢人了,人家那些研究生肯定会想:还出版社的编辑呢,还给我们讲解呢,结果一张口就是一个大错字!这些想法天天在我脑子里萦绕,让我寝食难安。

当我吞吞吐吐地向教授解释:“不好意思啊……那天读错了一个字……真是……都怪我没好好准备……犯了这样的低级错误……”我紧张得浑身冒汗。教授看见我这样,一挥手:“哎呀,是吗?我当时都没听出来。你这算什么?我给人讲课,几千人呢,还不是照样说错字。人家当场指出来,我就给人一鞠躬,‘对不起啊,下次改正’,就过去了嘛!你这个孩子,这样较真儿,活得太累!”

那天,教授送我出门,说:“我送你一句话,你回去好好琢磨——丰富的人生比正确的人生更有意义。”

我突然有一种醍醐灌顶的感觉:是啊,人活一辈子,如果没有尝过犯错的滋味、失败的滋味、被人嘲笑的'滋味,那也够乏味的吧?

也就是从那以后,我彻底放下了心里的包袱,整个人的状态都变了。我的口头禅变成:“先做吧,做了再说!”是的,先做吧,无非是两种结果,成功或者失败。失败了又怎样?谁能够保证不失败啊?我还没优秀成那样!

那位跳楼的女孩子,我想,一定是一个追求完美的人,她不能允许自己连一个英语四级都过不了,不能允许自己不如其他同学或者被人嘲笑。这份小小的挫折被她自己无限扩大,直到无法承受,最终付出生命的代价。其实,在我们这些局外人看来,这有什么大不了的啊?一次过不了,不等于下次还过不了,为什么对待自己这样严苛,连一个努力改变的机会都不给自己?
